Hello everyone,
I'm new to WebODM Cloud and running into a problem I can't diagnose.
I'm trying to generate an orthophoto from roughly 300 images with the following capture parameters:

• Overlap: ~70% front and side
• Flight height: ~12 m

The pipeline doesn't complete and the orthomosaic is never produced. I've attached the log of the task from coud2.webodm.net showing the error, but I can't work out what's causing it or why the processing does not succeed.
What's puzzling is that the exact same image set successfully produces orthophotos in other platforms (Pix4D and Agisoft Metashape), so I don't think the issue is with the imagery itself.
Has anyone seen a similar failure? Any pointers on where to look would be much appreciated. Happy to share logs or settings if that helps.

Maybe Agisoft and Pix are doing a better job of finding matches. Is this a forest area?

@Hassan I have done many large forests before can you please tell me:

  • what height you were flying at
  • how many photos

It's a meadow area, maybe even worse than a forest from features point of view.

I pasted here a screenshot version (because the limit is 10MB). The original image has 30MB definition and a GSD of around 1 cm per pixel and the details are clear

12m height. I added the first 337 photos of the flight. Just what the webodm net free subscription allows. The overlap is 70% front and side

yeah, 12m is very very low. when doing my forests I do 60m

when doing maps like that increase your overlap (80/75, or 85/80), and I try to do a higher flight path first, then if I need more detail, do a second pass at a lower alt. By doing two passes, (the higher one first) ODM picks points out of that flight path first, then that helps with the second pass giving it more points to tie into. does that make sense?

I am trying the pipeline on the DJI matrice 300 RTK with a zenmuse PI but also want to validate it on the DJI Mavic 3E

with the P1, you are defiantly flying to low to the ground then...

The things is that I can not fly higher because I losse the good GSD that allows me to see what I want to see (weeds)

if you need that much detail, I would suggest a first higher path a roughly 45-60m, then the second pass do like you did already, at the 12m. Not sure if this will workout due to the focal length of that camera tbh. but make sure to do a clean run with higher alt, then lower alt.

Ok makes more sense now.

  • Should I fly the 45-60 at 80% overlap also?
  • When I submit the data for ortho processing: I assume they should all be in the same project right?

I have managed to do some really low flights ~ 20m high by using low photos and a few high photos to help align

Did you use just nadir images or also oblique? If you have oblique images keep them out of the dataset.

i realize this is prob not relevant now but the minimum altitude for the P1 is about 100' / 30m due to focusing if you are using the 35mm lens. If you have the 25mm lens you could fly closer to the ground. It technically says it can fly lower than 100' but we have had many issues when flying under 100' this is also true if you have a lot of trees that are within that window. One last thing to note is that you want to make sure that your start point is over a nice flat spot because the camera focuses at the first "image" and that focus is fixed after that.
