Flight processing is stuck on the ICP Registration step

oohwenahh

I am trying to process over 600 images that were captured with a DJI Matrice 4E but the process gets hung after outputting "[INFO] Solving ICP Registration". I initially tried to do this within a project that had another task already completed, and so I thought maybe it is trying to align its point cloud to the other one (which had a different point cloud and less images). So, I moved this task to a fresh new project and started again. But it is still getting hung at the ICP registration step. The flight did not utilize GCPs and recorded rtk data to a .RTK file. Any ideas on what this could be?

The process is no longer stuck but instead has failed due to a memory time-out. Here is the output from the process:

Any ideas what these errors mean for my imagery? The imagery includes two sets of images. One is just the flight path imagery of the drone that was shot entirely in NADIR. And the other imagery is user-captured footage of the site but at an aggressive angle that captures the horizon. I believe it is something with the 3D reconstruction since most of the imagery is from NADIR and there are a couple of images that are capturing the horizon, which could really be skewing the dataset and causing problems. I processed a first set of imagery that was simply the DJI flight path imagery without other individual images added. This one processed just fine with no errors but showed poor 3D mesh Z values, which I believe is due to the imagery being shot from entirely a NADIR angle.

I'm in the process of fixing this; when alignment happens on really large areas the ICP solver gets stuck solving an unreasonably large problem and either gets stuck or runs out of memory.

Workaround at the moment is to disable alignment or use GCPs

I'm hoping to have a fix by next week

Awesome, thank you piero!

How do I disable alignment since it only gives me the option to align using Automatic or to align to another task? Is there a flag I have to set in the processing settings that disables alignment?

Leaving it as "Automatic" should do it

Should be fixed, try again if you get a chance 🙏
