Overlaying Cadastral Lines

Andre Ferreira

I have a quick question.
I have a client that requested me to add/import cadastral lines into a map (still need to capture the map). Is that possible and if so how would I do it if you don’t mind me asking?

They have send me a .dwg, if I understand correctly I should be able to open the map after it has rendered and import it as an overlay?

I tested converting the dwg to dxf and json, and importing it to one of my other maps. Dxf failed.
Json worked but the conversion from dwg to json mixed up the coordinate system and placed the lines randomly in the middle of Africa.

The site is in South Africa.

Not sure if anyone could perhaps give me some advice?

I guess QGIS might help you. Export the drone mapping from webodm as a geotiff. Drag and drop the geotiff and dwg into qgis and they should appear. If you are allowed to share the data I can give it a try 🙂

Thank you, I will give that a try. I'm unfortunately not allowed to share the data, but I do have QGIS, that's a good idea. I'm still waiting for date confirmation for me to actually go and capture the site then only can I create the map and test, but I trust there will be a way that works😁

If your client is looking for a printed map or pdf go for the QGIS!
If sharing WebODM project you might also be able to add a GIS layer from their server if it is a public service.
