large-area ODX georeferencing accuracy

lupionpe

I’m reopening an older discussion so it doesn’t get lost after ODX separated from ODM and the community moved to Discord.

With GCP-based projects, ODX reports very low GCP errors, but when I plot the same surveyed coordinates over the final orthophoto in QGIS, I see noticeably larger offsets. The discrepancy appears to increase with the size of the surveyed area.

This topic was discussed previously in https://github.com/WebODM/ODX/issues/14, along with related implementation attempts. I understand that improved handling is available through https://webodm.net/, but hosted-processing limits can make it difficult to use for the large-area projects where this issue becomes most relevant.

I’m mainly looking for help understanding the current status: is this still a known limitation in open-source ODX, and is there an active place where the community is tracking it?

Still a problem as of the latest version. #14 is the issue that's tracking it

That is a big refactor?
