Join The Development Fund

If your organization relies on the WebODM ecosystem, you can guarantee that the software will continues to receive cutting-edge research, stability and security updates. Members pool their resources to fund development, while getting brand exposure and access in return.

What Membership Pays For

100% of the funds are allocated to fund engineering, research, infrastructure and development costs. They allow us to fund core work on WebODM, ODX, NodeODX and the rest of the ecosystem, as well as funding upstream projects that we depend on.

Research & development

Making the software faster and less memory intensive, adding new features, staying on top of the latest research.

Code quality & security

Catching reliability and security problems before they reach production.

Upstream support

Supporting the pillars of the digital infrastructure the WebODM ecosystem depends on.

Infrastructure

Keeping automated builds and tests running so the project can run smoothly without breaking.

Documentation & education

Making sure people can use the software effectively.

A bigger bus factor

Growing the group of people who maintain the software.

Development priorities are decided by the project's maintainers. Memberships do not pay for features.

The Advisory Council

The Advisory Council meets once per quarter and representatives can share their insights, experience and possible pain points with the software.

The Council is made up of one representative from each Silver or Gold member.

The council's job is to give input, not to hand down decisions: how the funds get allocated remains with the project's maintainers. In practice, the council also tends to be where members discover that they want the same thing, and decide to fund it together.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I join?

Fill this form and tell us which tier you have in mind. We'll send an invoice and handle the paperwork. Memberships run for a year from the date the invoice is paid.

Can I pay an amount between two tiers?

Yes. The tiers are ranges, so any amount within a range earns that tier's benefits. Paying $8,000, for example, makes you a Bronze member. Anything at or above $25,000 is Gold.

Does membership buy specific features or fixes?

No. Fund money is undirected and how it's spent is decided by the project's maintainers. The Advisory Council gives members a forum to make the case for priorities, but it doesn't hand down decisions.

What do you need for the logo?

An SVG, or a PNG with a transparent background, plus the URL you'd like it to link to. Bronze and above are shown as logos; Supporters are listed by name.

Can I contribute without being listed publicly?

Yes. Tell us when you join and we'll leave you off the members page. We only publish a name or logo when a member asks us to.

Is a membership tax deductible?

A membership is a payment to support development, not a charitable donation, so as a rule it is not deductible as charity. Companies can often treat it as a business expense instead. Check with your own accountant.

What happens when the year is up?

Nothing renews automatically. We'll get in touch before your membership lapses so you can decide whether to continue and at which tier.

How is the fund managed?

The fund is transparently managed by UAV4GEO, an LLC incorporated in Florida that is run by WebODM's creator and lead developer Piero Toffanin. All detailed expenses of the fund are made available to members in real time.
